Program Objective
This full-time program has been specifically designed for students who are interested to work in the facilities management industry. The objective is to provide hands-on skills and knowledge needed to function effectively in the operational area of building and facilities management. The curriculum of the program has been developed after extensive discussions with relevant faculty members in Open University Malaysia and with established practitioners in the industry. The program is offered in a smart partnership with IPD - Open University Malaysia, and the Building Management Association of Malaysia.
Career Prospects
The building industry in Malaysia is a fast growing industry. There is a big demand for trained professionals in this area, especially with the government establishing economic growth corridors such as the IDR, ECER, and NCER. Students who successfully complete this program can work in Malaysia as well as overseas as executives in high rise buildings, shopping malls, luxury condominiums, apartments, sports complexes, factories, etc. An experienced facilities manager can easily earn about RM 100,000 per year.
Recognition
The diploma in building and facilities management has been approved by the ministry of higher education and has also been accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). The diploma is also recognised by the Building Management Association of Malaysia (BMAM). Students who successfully complete the program can join BMAM as a “graduate member”.

The duration of the program is 2 ½ years. Students will need to take 30 courses to complete the program. The courses that students need to complete are as follows:
